Update 3: This has gone viral. The tweet has been retweeted and favourited hundreds of times and featured on Huffington Post and BuzzFeed.

Update 2: This time it is official;. Virender Sehwag has retired

Update: So Sehwag has only hinted at retiring and hasn’t announced it yet. Nonetheless, the doodle holds true for the man.

Was having dinner with my son, when the news suddenly popped up on the laptop at the edge of the table. Sehwag deserves a Google doodle – the cricket fan in me said.

Do I make it animated? Which shot? Sehwag with thinning hair or after the transplant? So many questions. The answer came along as I tried to visualise watching Virender Sehwag play for the first time on TV at a friend’s place back in Shillong (he didn’t score much in that debut match of his). It has to be the big one. One of the many that brought along with the double and triple hundreds many a India victory.

Virender Sehwag's retirement: The unofficial Google doodle

Feeding my son with one hand, I was creating this unofficial Google doodle with the other. And the Twitter notifications haven’t stopped since.
